Bongo People – Some of the friendliest you can meet

On Monday 22 August 2016, I decided to make an impromptu visit to New Dawn Conversions at Darlaston. I have family in the West Midlands and [as I unexpectedly discovered] only 9 miles from NDC. Even though this was our first meeting, and I had arrived unannounced, Den welcomed me with all the friendly familiarity of a regular customer – very easy to talk with and very enthusiastic about his work and passion for Bongos. Just after arriving, a family turned up with their Bongo and dog, ready for the front seats to be converted with NDC’s very popular swivel bases. Den showed us around the workshop and demonstrated how the seats would work and what he had to do with removing and replacing some of the upholstery. About 15 minutes later, Den’s partner, Sam, arrived with her Bongo and dropped the family off in Walsall whilst the work was completed (in about an hour and a half), before later collecting them and returning to the workshop.

On Monday 29 August, I sent Paul (aka George) of Bongo Spares, Sowerby Bridge, a PM on facebook to see if he’d be around on Tuesday for a visit. He replied promptly and since I live just under 20 miles away, I drove across in my Bongo the next day. Once again, very friendly and, despite having a lot of work on, still gave me all the time I wanted to introduce myself and take a cursory look around my van.

NDC and Bongo Spares know each other well and seem openly happy to collaborate to help Bongo owners who visit either of their workshops.
